Andrés Amarilla & Meredith Klein - Bailan Tango - Video
Although only 30 years old, Andres Amarilla is celebrating 20 years dancing tango in 2007.
As a child and teenager, Andres studied with and performed
in the dance companies of legends
Gustavo Naveira, Juan Carlos Copes and Rodolfo Dinzel.
As a young adult, he participated in the creation of nuevo tango in closed rehearsals organized by Fabian Salas and attended by Gustavo Naveira, Chicho Frumboli, Mauricio Castro, Jean Sebastien, Milo Quadros Smith, and other international stars.
Andres has performed over 70 times at Buenos Aires milongas, including 20 performances with the legendary Geraldine Rojas.
Andres launched his international career in 2006, leaving students in 19 cities marveling at his ability to make the most complex concepts and movements accessible—even easy.
Equally versed in “traditional” and “nuevo” tango, Andres teaches a solid, consistent movement technique that works for any step, from the simplest walk to the cross, to the most challenging colgada.
As an example, one Santa Barbara student recently sent an email with a remarkable observation: by applying a simple set of three rules that Andres had given him during a series of private lessons, he and his partner had found that they were now able to solve any problem that came up in their dance on their own.
By giving students the tools to solve their own problems, Andres helps them go beyond being perpetual tango students to become tango dancers in their own right.
In 2007, Andres will teach on three continents and reach students in over 20 tango communities, including Buenos Aires, Belo Horizonte (Brazil), Nicosia (South Cyprus), Ercan (North Cyprus), Istanbul, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and many more.
Andres partners with his wife, Meredith Klein.
