Eumir Deodato (nació el 22 de junio de 1943 en Río de Janeiro) es productor y compositor de arreglos basados principalmente en el jazz, pero conocido por su diseño y composiciones eclécticas de la unión de diversos géneros musicales, como el rock, el pop, el R&B, el funk y música de orquesta.

Principalmente, sus temas pueden considerarse pop jazz y también covers.
Su éxito como artista original se dio en los años 70 y desde entonces ha producido más de 500 albums para bandas como Kool & the Gang y Björk.

Intérprete de temas como Así Hablaba Zaratustra y otros éxitos, y arreglista instrumental para artistas como Frank Sinatra y Vinicius de Moraes.

Prelude is the first CTI Deodato's record as a leader and by far the most known.
With his chart topping version of Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra he made a mark in the pop jazz music history.

That song sold at least five million copies and was awarded by Billboard Top instrumental LP, Top Jazz LP, Top Pop instrumental single, Cashbox, Record World, and Playboy magazines, also winning a Grammy Award in the Best Instrumental Pop/Rock performance in 1973 and becoming the most successful record in the label's history.

For this album Deodato was also voted #1 Instrumentalist and #2 jazz artist of the year in 1973. Beyond the ultra-famous rendition of Also Sprach Zarathustra, the album contains a new version of two previously released Deodato's compositions: Carly & Carole and the touching, lyrical Spirit of Summer.
