The orchestra Kriminal Tango was established in 1992 with musicians from various backgrounds as classic, jazz, folklore and of course tango.

.

The choice of name came form the fact that Tango was forbidden and considered immoral and illegal during period of time in history.

.

The pope Pious X cursed it as perverse and sexual music due to the fact that people from the first time danced close together letting the bodies actually touch each other.

.

The Tango music and dance came originally from the outskirts of Buenos Aires from whorehouses and bars with bad reputations in the end of the 19th century.

.

Famous places were The Hansen and The Laura where the middle class and aristocracy very respectably drank their afternoon tea. But at night they transformed into tango-clubs with it own rituals and language. As music from the suburbs the Tango have its own language called lunfardo.

.

This ha not been well regarded by neither the owner of record companies and radio nor though periods of time the government. The military dictatorships of 1976 forbid the tango Cambalache on grounds of being subversive.

.

The phrase that accomplished that was somewhat like: "The world is a pile of garbage and will stay so as I see. Same thing in 506 as the year 2000 will be."

Kriminal Tangos passion for the tangomusics different musical forms and expressions strives them to integrate all forms of tango roots from Gardel to Piazzola. Including their own musical arrangement and interpretations.

.

This permits them to perform in all sorts of forums as theatre, concerts and dance.

The group has preformed in all-important cities of Sweden in places such as Fasching, Mosebacke, Village and Nalen. Outside Sweden the group has participated in various festivals and concerts in Norway, Finland, Denmark, England and Germany.

.

They were also invited to The world summit of Tango in Lisbon in May 1998 where the most important tango artists of the world were gathered for a week of workshops and performance. Radio stations in Buenos Aires and La Plata have been given interviews with the group and interpreting topics of the CD that Kriminal Tango released in 1995.

.

In November 1997 two of the founders of the group received the silver medal from a foundation lead by the great artist Susana Rinaldi for outstanding work in presenting the tango music in North of Europe.
